Camp Buchan - 2024 Summer Programs

Camp Buchan is a scenic, vast camp hosting a long sandy beach, campfire circles, running water, and easy access from the main road. At Camp Buchan, campers will participate in a wide range of activities including: canoeing, swimming, crafts, campfires, leadership, cooking, team work, emergency skills, astronomy, and more! You're invited to join us for an adventure into the great outdoors, where lifelong memories and new friendships await. Camp Buchan is offering an extraordinary week of day camp with an optional “camping under the stars” overnight stay. This runs from July 8th to August 23rd.

General Information

Camp Buchan is located southeast of Charlottetown, in the community of Point Prim. The property is over 50 acres, perfectly situated on a lengthy shoreline and encompasses several nature trails, campfire circles, running water, outdoor showers, and easy access from the main road. There is plenty of room for tenting in the grassed open areas of the camp.

Camp Buchan has potable water, mobile phone coverage, picnic tables, indoor washrooms and a wheelchair accessible washroom. The main building on the camp has had major work done in 2012, including new windows, doors, roof, and wheelchair access ramp. There is also a fridge, microwave and WIFI in the main building. There is a log cabin, away from the headquarters area and is accessible through a walking trail. The cabin sleeps 8 and was updated in 2012 with many improvements including a new roof, raising and levelling, new door, and window screens.

Camp Buchan FAQ

All Camp Buchan staff hold a minimum Standard First Aid and CPR certification. Staff may also have other certifications (e.g., Mental Health FirstAid). The closet hospital is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), a 40-minute drive from the campsite. In case of an emergency, if a trip to the hospital or doctor is necessary, we will contact you to arrange transportation. If it is best that the camp transports the camper to medical services, a staff member will accompany them to the QEH. A camp leadership team member will contact you as soon as possible. If any prescription drugs are necessary as a result of consultation with a doctor, Camp Buchan will cover the cost and will bill you at the end of camp. For more information on Camp Buchan's safety procedures and policies, please refer to Camp Buchan Parent Handbook.
