Member, Beyond 2025 Youth Committee

We’re proud that Scouts is co-led by young people, local volunteers and our staff team. By working together we shape amazing adventures where young people discover new things, make friends and have fun.

We're working on a new strategy for Scouting in Canada that will capture the dreams and goals of young people so they are prepared for success — now and in the future.  This strategy will shape what we do at both national and local levels, to provide life-changing opportunities for hundreds of thousands of young people, not tens of thousands.

Would you like to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Scouting in Canada? If so, you are invited to apply to be a member of the Beyond 2025 Youth Committee.

What is the Beyond 2025 Youth Committee?

The next strategic planning process will give young people more power than ever before. The Beyond 2025 Youth Committee, set up by the Board of Governors, allows young people to share their ideas, make decisions and take action to ensure the plan is shaped and approved by youth.

The committee will ensure that young people actively participate in creating our new strategy. They will gather ideas from young people and share their findings with the Board. They will also review the strategic plan to ensure it meets the needs of young people.

Who can apply?

We are looking for 10 to 20 young people, aged 14 to 26, from various geographic locations, ages, genders, and underrepresented groups.

What can you expect

Committee members will need to contribute 5 to 10 hours a month. They will engage with young people inside and outside of Scouts to gather ideas for our next strategy and make recommendations to the Board of Governors based on these insights.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Co-Design with Young People: Develop and deliver activities to gather ideas from young people inside and outside of Scouting.
  • Youth Shaped: Review and objectively report to the Board on the effectiveness of co-design activities and whether young people's views are being included.
  • Youth Endorsed: Make sure young people's voices are heavily considered and report to the Board whether they agree with the strategy's content.
  • Collaboration with Strategy Planning Committee: Work with the strategy planning committee to include feedback and conclusions from young people.
