Scouting is more than just a youth organization—it's a movement that cultivates leadership, instills values, and prepares young individuals for success in the world. Scouts Canada, with its extensive membership and deeply ingrained values, has a remarkable potential to uplift communities, empower its members, and drive change. One powerful way to realize this potential is through fundraising, mutual support, and active engagement toward achieving Scouts Canada's mission.

Together, we raised $832,000 through our fundraising effort with Scout Popcorn, Coffee and Seeds.

Through National Support we collected and distributed $949,393.40 in donations that went directly back into Groups and Sections to fuel Fun, Safe Scouting Adventures.

The potential of Scouts Canada and our vast membership base to support each other and engage in meaningful activities is immeasurable. By harnessing this potential, Scouts Canada can not only realize its mission of better — preparing youth for success but also contribute positively to our youth members. As Scouts, we unite under a common purpose — to make the world a better place — and together, we can accomplish incredible feats.

In June of 2023, Scouts Canada held a nationwide Leadership Summit to engage and connect our many diverse volunteers together. 500 Scouters participated with over 40% daily. Over 30 sessions were hosted by Councils and Functional teams with the intent to gather input into upcoming business plans and strategic initiatives.

The Leadership Summit also provided an excellent opportunity to tap into the potential of the many, and the Group Commissioner Orientation Team were able to take that a step further by offering an in-person Group Commissioner Engagement Weekend to Group Commissioners across Ontario. Sixty Group Commissioners spent the weekend planning, networking, and learning, while the GCO staff dusted two years of pandemic lint off their facilitation skills. It was a well-received weekend, with excellent engagement, which provided meaningful feedback for the relaunch of the Group Commissioner Orientation program this fall.

Uplifting Volunteerism

Over the last year, the Volunteer Services Key 3 and Membership Services have been working together to automate and streamline the Recognition process, cutting down on manual process and subjectivity. While it has not been without bumps, this change has made it possible to recognize 1600+ deserving Scouters in an accurate, timely way. The Volunteer Support Key 3 Team will now be engaging our Members and uplifting the perspectives of the diverse many of the Organization to build a new, meaningful and appropriate program for appreciating the efforts of all of the amazing contributions our Volunteers make to Scouting.

World Scout Jamboree

Canadian Scouts Exploring the World

377 Canadian Scouts as well as more then 100 volunteers attended the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in South Korea in the summer of 2023. The WSJ is a significant and culturally enriching experience. This global gathering, held once every four years, fosters unity and intercultural understanding among youth from diverse backgrounds. The participation of our Canadian Scouts in this event exemplifies our commitment to scouting values and global citizenship.

In spite of event and weather challenges the Canadian delegation brought our unique cultural aspects to the Jamboree, sharing our traditions, languages, and customs with fellow scouts from across the globe. Canadian scouts embraced this opportunity to learn from others, fostering international camaraderie.

Amid the scenic backdrop of South Korea, these scouts engaged in various activities, including adventure sports, cultural exchanges, and a variety of unique adventures abroad. The experience allowed them to not only strengthen their resiliency and leadership skills but also gain a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. This invaluable experience in South Korea will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on our youth, instilling in them a sense of global citizenship, tolerance, and a commitment to making the world a better place through scouting principles. This event served as a remarkable reminder of the power of scouting to create lasting friendships and shape the next generation of responsible, compassionate global citizens.
